New Security Footage Shows Kelly Clarkson’s Visit to Art of Play as Online Drama Soars Higher

Since U Been keeping up with the Kelly Clarkson and Art of Play saga, here’s the latest update.

Days after the “Since U Been Gone” singer put the Brooklyn toy store on blast for how they allegedly treated her during an Oct. 10 visit, security footage shows what went down on Clarkson’s trip that caused all this drama to take flight.

In the footage (which doesn’t include audio) obtained and reviewed by journalist and podcaster Pablo Torre on Oct. 13, Clarkson entered the store donned in a yellow T-shirt, baseball cap and jeans while carrying a backpack. The 44-year-old—mom to River, 12, and Remington, 10, with late ex Brandon Blackstock—leisurely looks around the store before getting the attention of a shopkeeper to inquire about the infamous ‘Molly’ singing bird that was hanging on the store’s wall.

The duo has a quick conversation—lasting less than a minute—before Kelly appeared to dismiss herself and walk in another direction of the store. Later, she makes her way to the front of the store, at which point she appears to address the person working behind the counter before making a swift exit.

According to Torre’s Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast, Clarkson was only in the store for “about four minutes.”

As people around the country have now come to understand, however, the brief visit left an impression—so much so Clarkson took to social media within minutes of leaving the store to air her grievances.

“Just drove all the way to Brooklyn to check out this store I thought looked really rad and had a few things in mind to buy and literally was looked at as if I couldn’t afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me,” Clarkson wrote in an Oct. 10 post on X. “Wow, dude. You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale. But y’all should go check out Art of Play in Brooklyn if you enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts character in Pretty Woman.”

Dancing With the Stars' Val Chmerkovskiy Shares How He's Teaching His Son "Blue-Collar" Work Ethic

Val Chmerkovskiy always wants his son to put his best foot forward.

While the Dancing With the Stars pro admitted that his and wife Jenna Johnson's 3-year-old Rome doesn't yet "comprehend" how they're living out their dreams on the ABC show, he said the couple is already trying to lead by example and instill a strong work ethic in him.

"He loves music and dance. He loves watching us perform," Chmerkovskiy told E! News in an exclusive interview after the Oct. 13 episode. "It's important to see his parents work hard and have a blue-collar approach to this artistry thing."

And that's why he and Johnson—who are competing with Jenna Dewan and Harry Shum Jr., respectively, on season 35—have brought Rome along with them on tour and in the studio.

"He would be here tonight if it was allowed. Unfortunately, kids are not allowed," Chmerkovskiy explained. "But it's a beautiful thing, and to set that example as best as we could in this space—which is a pretty weird, fun, crazy space—I think is important."

And having Rome come to rehearsals also means he's developed a bond with Dewan behind the scenes.

"He is the cutest kid," the Step Up actress told E!. "Rome is the wise old soul. He's special, and I have witnessed his dance parties."

She quipped, "He's a good dancer, shocking to no one."
