Megan Thee Stallion Addresses "Very Rough" Breakup From Klay Thompson

Megan Thee Stallion is letting everyone know what’s new.

Five months after the 31-year-old revealed she and Klay Thompson had broken up after a year of dating—with Megan implying a lack of fidelity at the time—she’s shared insight into how she’s faring post-split.

“I’m trying my best,” she told InStyle in an interview published Sept. 9. “I feel like I’ve been put through the washing machine and the dryer with tins, shovels, and a cactus. It was very rough.”

“How do I want to say this gently?” she mused. “What’s meant for you is always going to work out. And if something is constantly making you feel uncomfortable, just on edge all the time, you probably are not supposed to be there.”

Indeed, Megan (real name Megan Pete) went on to delicately share more information as to why she and the NBA player, 36, went their separate ways.

“I think I just kept trying to make pieces fit that didn’t belong, trying to fit myself into someone else’s life,” she explained. “I was losing myself a little bit. I am now in the space of finding me again.”

As she put it, “You will not disrespect me. And you will be thankful. Period.”

Because someone like Megan—who is not only a Grammy-winning artist, but also recently summited the stages of Broadway and has proven herself to be a successful businesswoman to boot—cannot be reined in.

“I cannot be a person who is not gonna be me,” she explained. “I cannot not go to work. I’m going to be Megan Thee Stallion. I love being me. I love rapping. I love interacting with my fans. I love shooting music videos. I’m not a person who is in the house 24-7. I’m never going to be that.”

She continued, “And whoever dates me is gonna have to just understand, like, she is her own person. She’s her own boss. I cannot be minimized. I will not be behind any man. I will have a partner. I will be equals with my partner. I’m never gonna take the backseat to anything.”

DCC's Reece Weaver Reveals How She and Husband Will Allman Ignore Opinions About Their Marriage

Some days it really does feel the name on everybody's lips is gonna be Reece Weaver and her husband  Will Allman.

So, the retired Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and her groom of two-plus years have mapped out a strategy for dealing with online commentary and all that jazz.

"Pressure is a privilege," Weaver acknowledged in an exclusive interview with E! News, "and we know that there's a lot of people that have eyes on us in our marriage, which is a really weird concept. But we also know that there's a responsibility within that."

While the University of Alabama alumni have "established some boundaries" regarding what they share with her 1.4 million Instagram followers, they've happily shown off their new Tuscaloosa digs and the routines they've established since decamping to New York City for Weaver's six-week run as Roxie Hart in Chicago.

Still, she explained, "I think one of the biggest things we've learned is just how to have thick skin and how we can't put our worth or our identity in someone else's opinion, even if it's positive. Because that can be a trap really quickly, too."

Because, yes, the 25-year-old has certainly become one of America's Sweethearts since making her debut on the Netflix docuseries in 2024. But she's doing her best not to put too much stock in the fans who've been cheering her on.

"Even though we love, as human beings, to have positive feedback and positive things being said about us, we also know that at the end of the day, we're not to put our worth in anyone's opinions," Weaver explained. "And I think that has really helped us move along. When there are outside opinions, whether they're negative or positive, they don't interfere with our marriage."

Outside of the old razzle dazzle, all she and Allman, 26, really care about is love.
