While Anna Faris may have lost her home in the Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year, she still has plenty of heart.
“We're one of thousands,” Anna reflected in an exclusive interview with E! News about herself and son Jack, the 12-year-old she shares with ex-husband Chris Pratt. “And we feel really fortunate that we're safe and have a lot of support.”
But among the losses Anna is mourning are some keepsakes from film sets, including The House Bunny.
“It's funny with the stuff—not to go on about it, but I did have all of my shoes from the movie, and now they're gone,” she added. “But I know it's just stuff and memories. And thank goodness that it's out so I can look at them again somewhere.”
Through it all, the 48-year-old has done her best to put herself in Jack’s shoes.
“When we lost our home in the fire, he's handled it so with so much strength and practicality,” Anna said. “That also is confirmation to me that he's strong and he's even keeled.”
It is just one of the many moments in which the preteen has made his mom proud. And to hear Anna tell it, there have been plenty.
“When he—and he’s only done this a handful of times—but when he asked me for advice, or he reveals to me that he trusts me,” Anna revealed, “I get sort of a flood of emotional gratitude and confirmation that I guess I'm doing something.”
So every now and then, she gives herself a pat on the back. “I think, as parents, we're always questioning, you know, ‘What are we doing? Are we giving good guidance? Are we raising kids with a good foundation?’” she reasoned. “Those indicators to me make me feel like I'm on the right path. And I'm really proud of him.”
And should he need advice on life’s more practical problems, she’s ready to clean-up. It was her memories of cleaning the family bathroom with a toothbrush that had her eagerly partnering with Scrubbing Bubbles for a campaign that had her cosplaying as a corporate recruiter named Grace who is hiring unsuspecting individuals for “the easiest job in the world.”
“I think I have a pretty distinctive voice, but I was asking these unsuspecting people things like, ‘Have you ever used a bathroom?’” she detailed. “When you ask somebody that seriously, it's really hard. But we laughed all day.”
It was the same vibe working with Leslie Mann, Michelle Buteau and Isla Fisher on in the upcoming movie Spa Weekend.
“It's been even better than I could have imagined,” Anna gushed of the filming process. “I think it sort of speaks to where we are all at in our lives, we're all in this place where we're just eager to bond and support. And that has been so incredible, especially during this time”
Plus, there’s the added level of fun of bringing together four comedic actresses.
“It's hysterical,” Anna added. “It makes us all funnier and more open. And there's a feeling of comfort and safety. We've formed such a tight bond, and I haven't had that experience quite like this before. It's really wonderful.”
