Watch: Oscars 2025: Selena Gomez Shuts Down the Red Carpet in Stunning Beaded Look

Between Gwyneth Paltrow's pink Ralph Lauren ball gown, Julia Roberts' black-and-white Valentino, Charlize Theron's glittering Gucci and basically every dress Zendaya ever put on, who’s to say if Academy Awards fashion has changed us for the better, but we’ve certainly been changed for good.

Which is why there’s no place like the red carpet March 2 as the stars turned out for the 2025 Oscars—where Adrien Brody (The Brutalist), Mikey Madison (Anora), Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez) and Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain) were the big acting winners.

Ariana Grande first teased her sure-to-be-popular look to E! News at the Feb. 9 Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

“I’m very excited about it," the Wicked star, nominated for best actress in a supporting role alongside Saldaña, A Complete Unknown's Monica Barbaro, The Brutalist's Felicity Jones and Conclave's Isabella Rossellini told E!, "and I’m really looking forward to wearing it."

Of course, she knows all about making an entrance, floating down the carpet at Los Angeles' Dolby Theatre in a  Schiaparelli ballgown covered in 190,000 crystal sequins and rhinestones.

"The fit on this bodice, that is almost impossible to do," designer Christian Siriano declared on Live From E!: The Oscars. "It's stunning, incredible. And I love that it's really not pink. It's kind of icy blush, almost ivory tone."

And of course she wasn't the only one bringing the magic with nominees and presenters like Cynthia Erivo, Mindy Kaling, Selena GomezHalle Berry and Emma Stone aiming to defy expectations on the film industry's biggest night.

Grande's costar Erivo also channeled her Wicked alter ego in a custom emerald Louis Vuitton.

"We wanted to have a nod to Oz and a nod to the green, and a nod to old Hollywood," Erivo, up for best actress, explained to Live From E!: The Oscars host Zuri Hall. "It was something I always wanted. I wanted a big dress for the Oscars, if I made it here. And here we are in this wonderful, big, giant dress. And I feel amazing in it."

Dare we say she, uh, nailed the look down to her gilded manicure, hand sculpted by her go-to nail tech Mycah Dior. "We try and go as far as we can," Erivo noted. "We knew this was one of the last ones. We wanted to do something big and special."

Over-the-top was also the vibe for Saldaña, who continued to work in tandem with Yves Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello and her longtime stylist Petra Flannery

"I just have to show up bright and early and clean and just in great spirits so that we can just play and continue being artists," Saldaña raved to E! of her dream team, "because I don’t just do this for fashion. To me, fashion is art, and I love collaborating with designers like Anthony Vaccarello and working with Petra, because they are artists in their own right."

Gomez, her costar in Emilia Pérez, modeled her own work of art—some 12 artisans hand-sewing Rosemont crystals and more than 16,000 drops of glass onto her meticulously embellished custom Ralph Lauren.

As her stylist Erin Walsh told Zanna Roberts Rassi, "She wanted to channel that movie star magic," Rossi noted on Live From E!: The Oscars. "It's based on a Sophia Loren reference and the tailor that actually tailored Sophia Loren’s dress helped tailor Selena’s dress."

Meanwhile, A Complete Unknown's Elle Fanning struck her own collaboration, calling designer Sarah Burton's first creation as Givenchy's creative director "very special."

Because the woman behind Kate Middleton's wedding dress, "is one of my really close friends," Fanning explained to E!. "So it's a very special dress and Cartier necklace from 1958, which they pulled out of a vault."

And, no doubt, host Conan O'Brien pulled out all the stops for the finale to an awards season that's celebrated the likes of Timothée Chalamet, who scooped up a SAG Award for his turn as singer-songwriter Bob Dylan in A Complete UnknownThe Substance’s Demi Moore (already a Golden Globe, Critics Choice and SAG winner for her work in the horror flick) and Saldaña, who has already amassed Golden Globe, BAFTA, Critics Choice and SAG trophies.

Like Grande, both Moore and Saldaña were first-time nominees, joining a star-studded list of newbies that included Barbaro, Rossellini, Culkin and The Apprentice's Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong.
