North West knows fame comes with a price.
So, when Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's eldest daughter is out in public, she's found a way to circumvent some issues by adopting a new identity.
"I have one," North, 11, told her mom in a sit-down for Interview Magazine published Oct. 11. "But I'm going to change because nobody believes me. It's Katie Johnson."
"When I'm out at Sky Zone with my friends, they call me Katie, but when I look in the mirror for a long time, I'm like, 'I do not look like a Katie,'" the tween explained. "And then I was like, 'Okay, I got to change my name.' So I'm telling y'all now."
Because for North and her siblings Saint, 8, Chicago, 6, Psalm, 5, there isn't much they can control with the magnitude of their popularity. While the eldest loves being on camera, she wishes it was only on her terms.
"I like taking pictures of myself, but I don't like when paparazzi do," she said. "When I just woke up and there's so much paparazzi, I'm like, 'Yo, I'm going to sue you.' If I'm ready, if I'm not tired, if my outfit's good, I'm like, 'Okay, I could take a picture.'"
And while there are downsides to living life in the public eye, there are perks like opportunities to kickstart your aspirations young.
"I already do a lot of stuff that I want to be when I grow up," North admitted. "I just want to pursue my careers now."
In fact, she's already started pursuing those careers. She starred as young Simba during Disney's special live performance of The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl in May alongside Jennifer Hudson as well as the animated film's alums like Nathan Lane, Jeremy Irons, Jason Weaver and more. And in March, she announced she was debuting her album Elementary School Dropout, an homage to dad Kanye's 2004 album The College Dropout.
Because for someone like North, the possibilities are endless when it comes to hobbies and career aspirations. For instance, she was sure she would be a boxer at 7 years old until she tried her hand at something else.
"Now I don't want to be a boxer," she told i-D last October, noting that she's currently looking to be "a rapper, a basketball player, and I'm going to make artwork that I sell. Also, one day I want to own Yeezy and SKIMS, and I want to be a business owner."
